Joda Clément joins me in the studio for this evenings ‘Soundscape’.
Here is what we spun:
1. Partial – ‘Paul’ – LL – United States, 2014 on Another Timbre
Chicago based musicians Noé Cuéllar and Joseph Clayton Mills present three recordings constructed of material they encountered in a Chicago vintage/thirft store in 2010. This pair we invited to present a site-specific performance/installation for which they sorted through discarded materials in the stores basement. The duo, as exemplified in their previous works, have a keen ear for dynamics and composition giving voice to these objects.
2. Joda Clément/Chandan Narayan /Tomasz Krakowiak /Nigel Craig – Michael Pisaro Harmony Series #1 (live performance Somewhere There Studio)
3. VA AA LR – ‘Track II’ – It Just Ain’t Flapping – United Kingdom, 2013 on Consumer Waste
The trio of Vasco Alves, Adam Asnan, and Louie Rice present there second full length release on Consumer Waste. Recorded in August of 2012 in a basement. What more can I saw about this trio except they have my undivided attention.
4. Christopher Strickland – ‘Excruciating Circumstances’ –
A completely stunning work for violin and white noise by Montreal based composer Christopher Strickland, whose work continues to impress and confound.
5. Tarab – ‘strata’ – strata – Australia, 2014 on Unfathomless
Much discussions has been given to this release as of late. Richard Pinell and Patrick Farmer discuss it over at The Field Reporter
